This is when we were welcomed onto the Marae. We sang Te Araho and we listened to them sing their song. They were talking about the Marae. Matua Shane was speaking about the carvings.

Buddy Reading

We are learning to buddy read. We have to read quietly and we have to sit close to the other person (Elbow to elbow, knee to knee, EEKK). We can read at the same time or read one page at a time and take turns.

Room 13 have been practicing silent reading for the first four weeks. We need to think about not moving around and not sitting next to people we talk to. We get to read books that suit us best and we get to choose where we sit.

Camp Activities

silent reading readathon.

In room 13/14 and the whole school there is a readathon on. A readathon is something where we read a book then we put the title in our readathon booklets. Tomorrow some of our families will come, then we will read to them and we made an invitation just so they know. It goes from 29th till 2nd of September. We love to learn about the readathon. We think the whole school are asking for their family to come to the readathon. We read a book to our family members. We hope everyone has a great exciting time at the readathon.

 

Symmetry in Maths - Name Monsters

Name Monsters
In term 2 we made name monsters. Here are some instructions...
1. Get coloured paper.
2. Fold your paper in half landscape.
3. Write your name in capital block letters that touch each other.
4. Cut out the block letters while keeping both sides of the paper together.
5. Unfold the name and stick the name onto a black piece of paper.
6. Using pastals, colour the black paper in so that your name looks like a monster.
